Group Alumni
John Hocter
John completed research in the Dannatt lab during the 2021 summer. During his time, he focused on the synthesis and isolation of Bdan substituted benzoic acids. He graduated with a B.A. in biology and is planning to move back to his hometown in Virginia. He is currently seeking employment in a health related field.
Michael Phung
Michael completed research in the Dannatt group for one semester, spring 2021. During this time he focused on the synthesis of boryl-substituted benzoic acids. He graduated with a B.S. in biology, a B.A. in theology with a concentration in bioethics. He is currently finishing a masters in theology at UD with the intention of pursuing a medical degree afterward.
Mary Elizabeth Kerr
Mary Elizabeth completed research in the Dannatt lab in the spring of 2021. During her time in the lab she focused on the titrations of borylated benzoic acids. She graduated with a B.A. in biology and is currently applying to medical schools.
Mary Kate Bielinski
Mary Kate completed research in the Dannatt group during the summer of 2020 and spring 2021. During this time, she focused on synthesis of boron containing benzoic acids and subsequent measurement of the boryl effect on acidity. She presented her work via a talk in the Heart of Texas Undergraduate Research Conference and a poster at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research. She is currently employed as a Project Assistant at Faegre Drinker Law Firm.
Nick Bayer
Nick completed his research in the Dannatt group during the summer of 2020. His efforts in the lab focused on synthesis techniques of highly water sensitive boronic esters. He developed a simple and reasonably general procedure for synthesizing boronic esters from starting boronic acids, which is now called the "Nick method" in the group. He is currently working as a media analyst at Bulletin Intelligence.
